30 Days of Identity:

Read this 60 Second devotion. Each day, based on our verse of the day, we will add one new label to our Christian identity. At the end of 30 Days, we will have a life affirming, identity forming declaration. This is life changing stuff! --- Day 26

The Word - "... God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:7 ESV

A Thought - Today is a three-fer, power, love and self-control. Paul uses those 3 powerful descriptors to inspire Timothy to use and grow in the gift that he had been given by the Spirit. This is Paul's version of "You can do it!"

Let's paraphrase this verse (based on my awesome Greek exegesis ;-). Paul is saying, Tim, God gave you a great spiritual gift through me. Look, if you're scared, don't blame God 'cause that didn't come from Him. Remember, God loves you, and He has given you the drive and intestinal fortitude that you need to get 'er done!

My Prayer of Declaration - Lord, because of You, I am a New Creation, I am Forgiven, I am Reconciled to God, I am Free, I am Loved, I am complete, I am a citizen of Heaven, I am God's Child, I am Strong, I am not afraid, I am God's Masterpiece, His Ambassador, His Witness and He Welcomes me. I am a Servant of God (just like Jesus), I am more than a Conqueror, I am Holy, I am becoming more like Jesus every day, I have been delivered from darkness, I am chosen, I am a priest, I am a Temple of the Holy Spirit, I'm on a Mission from God, I am full of hope and I have been given a spirit not of fear but of power, love and self-control! - All blessing, honor, glory, power and praise are Yours, Amen.
