30 Days of Identity: A New Creation
Read this 60 Second devotion. Each day, based on our verse of the day, we will add one new label to our Christian identity. At the end of 30 Days, we will have a life affirming, identity forming declaration. This is life changing stuff!
The Word - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
A Thought - Recently, I rented a car for a business trip. It was brand spanking new; no dents, no dings and that new car smell. The first day I had the car a little jeep passed me and sent a big chunk of truck tire my way. It put a sizeable dent in the fender. By the end of the rental, the new car smell was fading fast. It would have been nice to simply snap my fingers and turn the rental car back over to the rental agency in the pristine condition in which I had received it. No such luck.
We're all kind of like that rental car. All of of the bad things that have happened to us, the poor choices that we've made, and the wear and tear from simply participating in the human race have dented our fenders and wiped out our new car smell.
We come to Jesus all dinged up. The Good News is that when we are born again, we are a completely new creation. We can leave the rust, dirt and dings in the scrapyard of our old lives and embrace our newness in Christ.
My Prayer of Declaration - Lord, because of You, I am a New Creation. - All blessing, honor, glory, power and praise are Yours, Amen.
Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe and transform your life, 60 seconds at a time. - Scott
