30 Days of Identity: I am a New Creation
Read this 60 Second devotion. Each day, based on our verse of the day, we will add one new label to our Christian identity. At the end of 30 Days, we will have a life affirming, identity forming declaration. This is life changing stuff! --- Day 29
The Word - "From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;" 1 Corinthians 5:16-18 ESV
A Thought - In ministry you meet a lot of ex's. Ex-cons, ex-addicts, ex-(fill in a deviant behavior). At a minimum, we are ALL ex-enemies of God (Rom. 5:10; James 4:4). Do you wear that label on your sleeve? "Hi, I'm Scott, an ex-enemy of God." Sounds silly, right? You know why I don't say that? It's because Jesus Christ has justified me. It's just as if I'd never sinned. But I'm not special, EVERYONE who is in Christ is justified by faith in Him. We're no longer ex-anything. We're new creations! The old us is gone!
Let's celebrate what Jesus Christ has done for us by leaving our ex-monikers in our ex-lives!
My Prayer of Declaration - Lord, because of You, I am a New Creation, I am Forgiven, I am Reconciled to God, I am Free, I am Loved, I am complete, I am a citizen of Heaven, I am God's Child, I am Strong, I am not afraid, I am God's Masterpiece, His Ambassador, His Witness and He Welcomes me. I am a Servant of God (just like Jesus), I am more than a Conqueror, I am Holy, I am becoming more like Jesus every day, I have been delivered from darkness, I am chosen, I am a priest, I am a Temple of the Holy Spirit, I'm on a Mission from God, I am full of hope and I have been given a spirit not of fear but of power, love and self-control! I am Jesus' friend, He has justified me, and I am a New Creation!.- All blessing, honor, glory, power and praise are Yours, Amen.
