30 Days of Identity: I am an Ambassador

Read this 60 Second devotion. Each day, based on our verse of the day, we will add one new label to our Christian identity. At the end of 30 Days, we will have a life affirming, identity forming declaration. This is life changing stuff! --- Day 13

The Word - "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us." 2 Corinthians 5:20a ESV

A Thought - Think of your favorite American President. Now, imagine that there was a big event coming up. Your phone rings and its that president. As you struggle to gather yourself, he asks, "Hey, there's this big, week long event in Paris coming up. I would like you to go in my place as an ambassador. You'd be representing me. Will you do this for me?" Seems preposterous, right? But that is exactly what has already happened to you and to me. We are ambassadors for Christ; his representatives in this world.

Going back to the Presidential example, think about how conscientious you'd be under that circumstance. For me, I'd be concerned with everything from my clothing to the look on my face. I would treat people as if the President's reputation depended on my interactions and I would always think before I spoke. Most importantly, I would be constantly mindful that I was doing the President's bidding before my own. How much more concerned should we be, then, if we are Ambassadors representing our Creator. It's not that we are earning anything. We're already saved. It's just that we are in the employ of someone else. We should represent Him well, simply because it's the right thing to do.

My Prayer of Declaration - Lord, because of You, I am a New Creation, I am Forgiven, I am Reconciled to God, I am Free, I am Loved, I am complete, I am a citizen of Heaven, I am God's Child, I am Strong, I am not afraid, I am God's Masterpiece and His Ambassador. - All blessing, honor, glory, power and praise are Yours, Amen.

Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe and transform your life, 60 seconds at a time. - Scott
