38 Days of Miracles: Hope and a Future

This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the the 37 +1 Miracles of Jesus that are recorded in the Bible.
The Word - " 11Soon afterward he (Jesus) went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him. 12As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. 13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14Then he came up and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. 16Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited his people!” 17And this report about him spread through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country." Luke 7:11-17 ESV
A Thought - Why did Jesus have compassion on the woman? Obviously, her son was dead but it was more than that. Notice that Luke points out that she was a widow. That is a huge detail. For this woman, her son was her social security, her retirement, and her only means of support after her husband died. Her son was a man, so she had literally lost everything when he died. Her future prospects looked pretty grim. Jesus didn't just give the woman her son back, He restored her hope and her entire future as well.
A Prayer - Lord, thank you for caring about us not only in the present moment, but in all of the moments yet to come. Thank you for your compassion that has given all of those who place their trust in you new life, true hope, and a bright future.- In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
