Day 3-30 Days of Being a Better Human
The Word - "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost." 1 Timothy 1:15 ESV
A Thought - Often, we think of sinners as those "other people," those people who do that one, really awful sin. Somehow, we justify judging ourselves to be better than those other sinners. Truth is, we are all inclined towards, or are actively involved in doing things that lead us away from God. That is sin. That makes us sinners. Sure, there are many varieties of sin that vary in their impact on the people around us. We are wise to acknowledge that, but we must also recognize that we sinners are all standing in glass houses with palms full of rocks. Perhaps if we followed the Apostle Paul's example and recognized ourselves as sinners, we would have less need to focus on the sins of others. We might even become better humans in the process.
A Prayer - Lord, You are the only perfect person to have ever lived. I am a sinner. Thank You for saving me. Show me the ways in my life and in my heart that lead me away from You then change my heart. Fill me with grace and compassion. - In Jesus' name, Amen.
