Mark: Day 14 - The Miracle of Spittle and Earwax

This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the Gospel of Mark.
The Word - "And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him. And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue. And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. And Jesus charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Mark 7:32-37 ESV
A Thought - Show of hands. How many read that passage and thought, "That's so nasty!" Jesus sticks his fingers in a guys ears, then he spits on those earwaxy fingers and touches the man's tongue. Ew! The man does get healed, so all's well that ends well.
Many times, the way the the Lord does something seems different than the way we would do it, or it seems altogether foreign to us. The important thing to remember is that Jesus gets it done. As we follow Jesus on our life-long, Christian adventure, we should be open to the unexpected, look for Jesus in the unusual and find joy in the creative ways that our Creator goes about accomplishing his will.
A Prayer - Lord, thank You for being so creative. Thank You for doing things in wonderfully unusual and unexpected ways. From healing to Providence, You are always caring for us in ways that we've never considered before. Walking with You is truly an epic adventure. Love You! - In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
