Mark: Day 15 - What Have You Done for me Lately?

This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the Gospel of Mark.

The Word - Jesus said, “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.” Mark 8:2-3 ESV

A Thought - This crowd appears to have been one of the large groups that Jesus fed during his ministry. They numbered at least 4000. Jesus, full of compassion, fed these people. He knew that once his teaching got tough they were almost all going to leave him (see John 6:60). He cared for them anyway.

In our busy, let's get 'er done world, it is easy to start seeing people in terms of what they can or will do for us. If they can help us, we show concern and care for them. If they can do nothing for us, we leave them in our rear view mirrors and don't give them another thought. But...

If we are going to be like Jesus, we must show concern and offer compassionate care to those who can do nothing for us.

A Prayer - Lord, it is easy for me to become so self-focused that I forget to care for others. Fill me with Your compassion for others. I want to be Your hands and feet in this world. Whether it is physical or spiritual hunger, use me for their good and Your Glory! - In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe and transform your life, 60 seconds at a time. - Scott
