Mark: Day 4 - Jesus Uses Junk
This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the Gospel of Mark.
The Word - "He went out again beside the sea, and all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:13-17 ESV
A Thought - Is Jesus calling you? Listen closely. Truth is, He calls all of us to be his hands and feet in the world. I know, you feel unqualified because you lack training/experience, or disqualified because of your past. Good News! Our Jesus qualifies the unqualified and has already paid for our past transgressions. Speaking from experience, stepping out in faith and attempting something that takes more than you have to offer leads to dependency upon Christ and gratitude for every little success. It's a pretty great way of being! Give it a try.
A Prayer - Lord, I acknowledge your call on my life. I am lacking in every way that would help me succeed. Be my strength. Give me great ideas, and show me what to do. I choose to be your hands and feet. - In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
