Mark: Day 7 - I plant: God Does the Rest

This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the Gospel of Mark.

The Word - "And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”” Mark 4:26-29 ESV

A Thought - This parable about growing seed is a favorite of mine. Why is it a favorite? Well, it dispels one of the most crippling false beliefs that many of us hold to one degree or another; the belief that we are responsible to "get people saved." See, this parable is about the Gospel and about the growth of the Kingdom of God. It tells us that we are to share the Gospel (sow the seed) but that God will take care of the rest. What a relief. I am not responsible to get people saved (make the seed grow). I'm only responsible to tell people the Good News. Whether they believe it or not is not my business. That is the business of the Holy Spirit. Takes off a lot of pressure, doesn't it?

A Prayer - Lord, let me live a life that shouts the Gospel. Let me boldly proclaim the Gospel to all who will listen. And let me release the pressure to perform and get results. That is all up to you. Thank you for including me in your plan of redeeming the lost.- In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe and transform your life, 60 seconds at a time. - Scott
