Mark: Day 8 - Do You Still Have No Faith?

This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the Gospel of Mark.

The Word - "He (Jesus) said to them (the disciples in the boat with him), “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” Mark 4:40 ESV (I added the parenthesis)

A Thought - When a great storm threatened to sink their boat, the disciples panicked and woke Jesus up. At first, you'd think that they had done the right thing. They were in trouble and they looked to Jesus. So why did Jesus ask them why they still had no faith? Didn't looking to Jesus prove that they had faith? Yes and No.

Here's the thing, Jesus said "Let us go across to the other side." (Mk 4:35) Jesus didn't say, "Come, let's go drown." If they had a really mature faith in Jesus, they would have known that Jesus had already told them that everything was going to be OK. If Jesus says you're going to the other side, you're going to the other side. Period. Of course, that doesn't mean there won't be a few faith-growing storms along the way.

A Prayer - Lord, let me walk in peaceful trust in You as You lead me from one place to another. No matter how quickly the storm clouds of life appear, and how high the waves become, fill my heart with faith in Your promises, in Your love, and in Your goodness. Lord, I know that no matter what comes my way, You can simply command peace in any situation. Thank You. - In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
