Mark: Day 9 - Sorry Kid, You've Got Homework

This 30 Days Series will lead us to Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe by taking a look at the Gospel of Mark.

The Word - "As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him (Jesus) that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled." Mark 5:18-20 ESV

A Thought - This verse is talking about the wild man that was filled with the legion of demons that went into 2000 some odd pigs and then ran those pigs into the sea. This guy had a real encounter with Jesus. He wanted to be with Jesus wherever Jesus went, but Jesus said no, go be my witness instead. Tell your family and friends about what I did for you.

There is a lesson here for all of us. When Jesus does the miraculous for us, our first reaction is usually to stay there, celebrate, worship and press in for more. It seems that the Lord would rather we leave, go to the folks who missed the meeting and tell them all about what Jesus did.

A Prayer - Lord, when you do the miraculous in my life, remind me to get out and share about what You did for me with everyone who will listen. Thank You in advance for the miracle and for the mission! - In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Bonus: The next time you tell your children that they can't go somewhere until they do their homework, you can show them this story (Mk 5:1-20) in response to their complaining. Tell them, "Look, this idea of making people do their homework before they go play is a biblical principle established by Jesus himself. My hands are tied here." LOL

Touch the Hem of Jesus' Robe and transform your life, 60 seconds at a time. - Scott
